The good folks at Twitter, when they’re not recovering from speeches by Steve Jobs, like to play to their Asian users, one of the quicker growing demographics in the Twittersphere. They talked a bit about it briefly on the corporate blog, pointing to applications like Movatwitter and Twitterpod as examples of the growing Japanese demand for Twitter.

To support the growth of the usage in Japan, Twitter has taken on an undisclosed amount of investment from Digital Garage, with whom they’ve also formed a partnership.  The investment is supposed to be devoted to increase engineering and other development resources.

In a statement from Digital Garage, Jack Dorsey, CEO of Twitter remarked: “The experience and know-how Digital Garage brings to Twitter Japan is exactly what we need to serve our Japanese fans. Just working alongside engineers from DG has already made this partnership rewarding.”
