The Daily Poll: Will Amazon’s MP3 Store Topple iTunes?

December 28, 2007

Amazon has added DRM-free mp3s from Warner Music to its online music store, further increasing the company’s efforts to take on Apple, who runs the industry dominating service iTunes. Since launching, Amazon has shown they are willing to spend aggressively to gain market share, including offering 20% bonuses to web publishers that refer customers to their music store, and launching a big free music promotion with Pepsi for the Super Bowl. Additionally, Amazon now offers DRM-free tracks from three of the major record labels, versus just iTunes who only offers DRM-free tracks from EMI. Will all of this make a difference as we move into 2008? Today’s poll question:

How significant a threat is Amazon’s mp3 store to iTunes?
